Week 10: Reflections on Three Years with Our First Car

March 22, 2024 . 2 minutes read

It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since we bought our first car. I still vividly remember the conversations Soundarya and I had, especially when we decided as a family that we would only travel by car and not by bike, particularly with our newborn son. That decision meant so much to us—it was about ensuring his safety and comfort, but also a step toward a new chapter in our lives. At the time, I was a new driver, and I knew that the safety rating of the car was crucial. I didn’t want to take any chances, so choosing a car with a high safety rating was non-negotiable. It wasn’t just about convenience; it was about securing our family’s well-being.

I think for many of us, when we move just a little beyond the middle class, one of the first things we do is take that step to protect our loved ones. And for us, that meant making sure we had a car that would offer us not just comfort but peace of mind. Looking back, I realize it wasn’t just the car itself, but the sense of responsibility that came with it—a responsibility I carry every time we hit the road together.
