Week 16: Deactivating Twitter
A few years ago, I deleted my Facebook and Instagram accounts. I was never really active on them, and honestly, they never excited me much.
The only social media platform I truly enjoyed—especially during the early years of my career—was Twitter. It felt like a goldmine of knowledge, especially learning from seasoned developers like Taylor Otwell, Jeffrey Way, Alex Garrett, and many others.
But things took a turn after Elon Musk’s acquisition. With monetization tied to verification and tweet views, the platform changed. My feed started getting flooded with threads that felt more like clickbait than value—“15 tips to boost productivity,” “How to use ChatGPT like a pro,” “Secrets nobody told you about XYZ.” You know the kind.
It became noise. And I slowly lost the joy of even opening Twitter.
So, this week I finally decided to deactivate my account and move on.
